The Resilient Expat helps internationals to settle, adapt, and thrive when living overseas. Cross-cultural wellbeing support is offered at every stage of the Expat Journey (from pre-posting preparation, to arrival, adaption, and departure) - offering advice, support and, most importantly, continuity along the way.
I'm Kellie Collins - currently living as an Expat in the Netherlands, I recently retrained as a Life Coach after realising the importance of resilience and wellbeing for the international community during the Covid pandemic.
I've lived and worked overseas for 18 years, in 6 different countries, and have many personal experiences of going through life transitions overseas.
I have seen and experienced firsthand how wellbeing support can ease the transition between each stage of the Expat Lifecycle: from Preparation, to Arrival and Adaption, then Departure and I have helped many colleagues from international organisations and their families with these transitions during their overseas adventures.
My aim is to encourage, equip and support international movers with their resilience and wellbeing needs. Imagine having a dedicated personal "Expat Coach" to give you tailored wellbeing guidance and be a constant source of support to ensure your overseas life is as enjoyable as it can be...I'm here to do just that.
I offer support to individuals within the international community - to anyone who has either moved, or is about to move overseas - as well as those repatriating to their home countries.
I offer support to organisations/groups/communities who have members that are going through, or have gone through, international moves.
Delivered through 6 weekly group virtual workshops, we focus on how to understand, identify, plan and prioritise your, and your family's, wellbeing throughout your posting. Being in a group setting has the added benefit of hearing others' experiences and making social connections.
Delivered through two live 1:1 virtual workshops, the workshops will explain, explore and give practical advice on how to adapt your wellbeing focus throughout an overseas posting. The 1:1 setting enables a more tailored approach to your family situation and your specific stage in the Expat Lifecycle.
After completing the workshops, individual 1:1 follow-up sessions are available as a more personal focus. These virtual sessions are tailored to specific wellbeing aims and outcomes, with as many follow-ups as desired.
Tailored wellbeing advice for your international organisation - international schools, Embassies, international orgs etc., available. Offered in-house (if in close proximity to The Netherlands), or on-line.
The Wellbeing Workshops focus on eight elements of cross-culture wellbeing. All these elements contribute to a balanced sense of wellbeing. An explanation of each element is followed by top tips and practice guidance relevant to you.
The focus is tailored to your Workshop - taking into account the specific stages of the posting lifecycle, family situation, and whether you are a "first- or multiple poster", to equip you with the necessary tools to get the most out of your life overseas.
We go through your Wellbeing Action Plan together, so you can take-away areas on which you would like to concentrate - with the aim of improving and preparing your Wellbeing for your life overseas.
The Eight Elements of Cross-Cultural Wellbeing include:
How much do you undertand about your own culture and how it differs to your new culture? We'll explore your cultural intelligence to make your integration easier and quicker! We'll also look at culture shock - at which stage you are now, and what to expect as you go through the following stages of culture shock.

This relates to our sense of life-meaning and purpose. It can include our connection to culture, community, spirituality and/or religiosity and includes beliefs, values, and ethics. When met, spiritual wellbeing will enable you to thrive in your new environment.
